Squamish, British Columbia

Squamish is a resource and tourist town at the north end of Howe Sound, just northwest of Vancouver, and a key stop on the Sea-to-Sky Highway to the Whistler ski resort. Nearby tourist attractions include the Stawamus Chief, a huge cliff-faced granite massif favoured by rock climbers; Shannon Falls, where water cascades down the south side of the Chief; and Brackendale, one of the world's leading locations for viewing bald eagles. Squamish is also the name of the First Nations people who have inhabited this area since before the time of contact with Europeans.
