Geography

Spencer Mountain is located at 35°18'29" North, 81°6'31" West (35.308017, -81.108656). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.55% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 51 people, 16 households, and 14 families residing in the town. The population density is 40.2/km² (104.9/mi²). There are 17 housing units at an average density of 13.4/km² (35.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 72.55% White, 19.61% African American, 0.00% Native American, 7.84% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 16 households out of which 50.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.8% are married couples living together, 25.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 12.5% are non-families. 12.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.19 and the average family size is 3.29. In the town the population is spread out with 37.3% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 3.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 82.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 68.4 males.
