SpeakonNeutrik Speakons are a type of cable connector commonly used in pro audio systems for connecting loudspeakers to amplifiers. It features a quick-locking system with options for soldered or screw-type solderless for easy repair in the field. The speakon connector is recommended over 1/4" or two-pole twist lock connectors for loudspeakers Though the speakon cable can have up to 8 different connections in one connector, many systems use 2 of the 8 connections in the wire. Commonly the 4 connections can be used from a crossover where 2 of the 4 connections will be for the higher frequency tweeters while the other 2 are for the lower frequency subs in speaker configurations supporting such a configuration In other situations 2 of the 4 connections can be used to provide AC power to self-powered speakers and the other 2 connections will provide the audio
