South Park Mexican

South Park Mexican (or SPM) is a Houston, Texas-native and rapper, one of the few Mexican rappers to border on mainstream rap. SPM's real name is Carlos Coy. Growing up in South Park neighborhood of Houston, a notorious ghetto, he began selling drugs, quitting in 1994 and beginning his rap career. On his own label, Dope House Records, SPM released Hustle Town and Power Moves to local fame. Touring throughout Texas, SPM released The 3rd Wish and The Purity Album before moving to Universal Records for Time Is Money and Never Change. Neither established him in the mainstream, despite advertising blitzes from Universal. Carlos Coy was accused of molesting a nine year old girl, in Houston, who had stayed the night with his daughter. On May 18, 2002 a jury convicted him for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The jury later sentenced him to 45 years in prison. Coy testified that he did not assault the nine-year-old girl. However, Coy did admit to having sex in 1993 with a 13-year-old girl (with whom he had a son). South Park Mexican
