Sound Editor

In radio, film, and television, the sound editor deals with the mixing, adjusting and fixing the soundtrack.Usually has a major decision-making and a creative role. A sound editor also decides what sound effects to use and what effects to achieve from them, edits and or makes new sounds using filters / combining sounds, shaping sound with volume curves, and equalizing. A sound editor takes the foley artist's sounds and put them in place so it works with the picture and sounds natural, even if the sound is "un"natural. In many cases, a sound editor uses a sound effects library extensively, either self-compiled, bought or both, as many of the sounds don't get enough focus in a 100% recording (on location actual sound) Some sound editors also makes the sounds from scratch by doing a little foley in a studio or making something on a pc from something else other than just combining sounds, the sound designer is the sound editors boss and has final word and such and steers the sound in the direction he has intended for the film and the different scenes. Mostly sound editors use pro tools on Apple Macintosh computers with a digidesign I/O when it comes to movie and tv sound.
