It fuses a highly stylized aesthetic with a fluid, windowless interface and fully animated menu systems. Additional functionality includes a full-featured playlist editor, a variety of unique output visualization modes via plug-ins, and a robust control set featuring pitch, balance and amplification adjustment, as well as a 20-band equalizer with spline-based level adjustment. It supports many audio formats, including MP3, MP2, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, Audio CD and Windows Media Audio. Even more formats are playable through various plugins, for example AVI video files. Sonique can also be used to listen to audio streams. Sonique's look and feel can be completely customized via skins http://skins.sonique.com. At the time when Sonique still was under development, it was one of the most popular players. The major things that made Sonique famous was its great decoder, audioEnlightment, its freeform skins, and a powerful equalizer. History Sonique was originally developed by Media Science, but was later bought by Lycos. After a while, when Lycos was bought by Terra Networks, S.A., the whole Sonique team was fired, and replaced with new team consisting of two persons to work on the next version of the player, Sonique 2. On April 2, 2004, the last man working on Sonique 2 was laid off. Now, Lycos has been sold to Daum, and Sonique 2's future is unknown. See also External links
