Somnambulistic SleepwalkersSomnambulistic Sleepwalkers is an international organization that provides hands-on practice of the techniques of hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Sleepwalkers is a very low cost way for both the novice who is curious about what hypnosis is and the professional who wants to refine techniques and interventions before working with clients to practice hypnotic techniques. The original chapter was formed in New York City on November 21, 2001 by John Petrocelli, a New York City hypnotist. Since that time chapters have sprung up all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Dubai, Japan, Israel, and India. Sleepwalkers got its name from the trance state in hypnosis called somnambulism, which translated means "sleepwalking". The full name is Somnambulistic Sleepwalkers, but due to it being a mouthful and also redundant, most people just call it Sleepwalkers. Sleepwalkers members are not partial to any one type of hypnosis or NLP system. Rather, they are only interested in what works. They ask the questions of any technique, "Does it work?", "Is it repeatable?", and, "Can it be easily taught to others?" In addition to being the world's largest Hypnosis & NLP practice group, the Sleepwalkers have been referred to as the world's largest self-help group. Another important belief of this group is to have the experience and the benefit that these mind technologies provide, or, as Mark Cunningham states it, "if you have the hood up, you might as well tune the engine."
