Somen Salad

Somen salad is a Japanese type of noodle-based salad that is to be served cold. The salad is a variety dish based on its main ingredient, the Somen noodle. Essentially, the salad comprises of three main parts: the noodles, the vinegar-based sauce and the garnish. Some recipes include ingredients such as chicken broth, lemon juice or even sesame oil for mixing in the broth. On the other hand, the variety of the type of garnish is even more, ranging from shredded lettuce, spring onions, sesame seeds, slivered char siu (ham) to even scrambled eggs.
