Solomon Laurent Juneau

Solomon Laurent Juneau (1793 - 1856) was a U.S. (Canadian-born) settler and businessman. He founded Milwaukee in 1818 (originally named Juneautown prior to 1837). The became a fur trader and land speculator. In 1837 he started the Milwaukee Sentinel, which would become the oldest continuously operating business in Wisconsin.
