Sociedad Deportiva Eibar

Sociedad Deportiva Eibar are a Spanish football team from Eibar in Guipzcoa. Founded November 30 1940, they currently play in the Segunda División. They play in azulgrana--claret and blue, with blue shorts. Their home stadium is the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, which seats 5,250 spectators. Formed by the merger of Deportivo Gallo and Unión Deportiva Eibarresa, they were originally known as Eibar Fútbol Club, before changing to the current name. Originally an irregular team, it wasn't until the 1943-44 season that Eibar were reorganised into a more full-time unit. Promoted to the third (Tercera) division in 1950, they were promoted to the Segunda B in 1952-53, where they stayed for five seasons, before being relegated again. The team has since floated between the two second divisions and the third. More recently, the club has been more consistent, remaining entirely in the Segunda División since 1988. Honours
