Social Ground Coffee LoungeSocial Ground Coffee Lounge is a popular speciality coffee chain in the Netherlands. It is a competitor of the famous Starbucks chain. Over 60% of the service is in selling speciality coffee, along with a wide selection of organic and fair trade teas. The first Social Ground Coffee Lounge opened at the Central Station in Amersfoort in March 2004. Entrepreneurs Peter Muciy and John Bowman founded the company in 2001 in Rotterdam. The Coffee Connection in Amersfoort was purchased in 2003 and was re-branded as a Social Ground Coffee Lounge in early 2004. During Fall 2004, the Social Ground Coffee Company purchased and re-branded the Noordstar Coffee units in Utrecht.
