Sobu Main Line
Sōbu Main Line
(総武本線
Sōbu-honsen
) is a railway line between
Tokyo
and the east coast of
Chiba Prefecture
,
Japan
, operated by the
East Japan Railway Company
. It runs through the cities of
Funabashi
,
Chiba
, and
Choshi
. Local trains between
Ochanomizu Station
and
Chiba Station
are called the
Sobu-Kanko Line
. There are also rapid service trains from
Tokyo Station
to Chiba Station called the
Sobu-Kaisoku Line
. For the most part, these trains use the same line, except when they reach Tokyo: Sobu-Kanko trains continue onto the
Chuo Line
, while Sobu-Kaisoku trains continue onto the
Yokosuka Line
. The
Narita Express
service to
Narita International Airport
uses the Sobu Line for most of its journey.
