Sms Nrnberg

SMS ''Nrnberg, named after the town of Nuremberg, was a German light cruiser launched in 1907. The Nrnberg's design was similar in both size and appearance to the famous Emden'', differing mainly in its uneven funnel spacing. Being a latecomer to the battle of Coronel, Nrnberg found the drifting HMS Monmouth and finished her off with 75 shells at close range. Nrnberg was sunk at the battle of the Falkland Islands in 1914. Fleeing south like the rest of the East-Asiatic Squadron, she was pursued by the larger and more powerful HMS Kent. Although nominally faster, Nrnberg's engines were badly worn out, which enable Kent to catch up with her. Nrnberg opened fire on Kent and scored several hits, but was unable to disable the British armored cruiser. After coming into range of her heavier-but shorter ranged-guns, Kent eventually sank Nrnberg, although suffering considerable damage herself. Nrnberg
