Smack The Pony

Smack the Pony was a Channel 4 sketch comedy show that ran from 1999 until 2003. The main performers and writers on the show were Fiona Allen, Doon Mackichan and Sally Phillips. It also included regular appearances from Sarah Alexander and Darren Boyd. Some regular themes of which the sketches were usually based on included unsuccessful relationships, competition in the workplace and lesbianism. As well as these, there were two other regular sketches, which involved a series of different women making dating agency videos about their general likes and dislikes and a sketch where they performed a song that was a spoof of a band or a type of music. In 1999 and 2000, it won an Emmy Award for the Best Popular Arts Show.
