skne county

Skne County, or Skne ln, is the southernmost County or ln, of Sweden. It borders the counties of Halland, Kronoberg and Blekinge. To the east, west and south it also borders the Baltic Sea and strait of resund.

Province

For History, Geography and Culture see: Scania Scania, the historical province Skne, has virtually the same boundaries as the current administrative entity, Skne County. In 1997 the previous counties of Malmhus County and Kristianstad County were merged to form the new county.

Administration

Main article: Skne County Administrative Board The seat of residence for the Governor or Landshvding is the town of Malm. The County Administrative Board is nominally a Government Agency headed by a Governor. See List of Skne Governors.

Politics

Main article: Skne Regional Council Skne Regional Council or Region Skne is an evolved County Council that for a trial period has assumed certain tasks from the County Administrative Board and the Swedish Parliament.

Heraldry

Main article: Heraldry of Scania The arms for Skne County is the same as for the province of Scania only with the colors reversed and the crown, beak and tongue of the same color. When the arms is shown with a royal crown it represents the County Administrative Board, which is the regional presence of (royal) government authority. Blazon: "Gules, a Griffin's head erased Or, crowned and armed the same".
