Sipri

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) was founded in 1966 to commemorate 150 years of unbroken peace in Sweden. Its task is to conduct scientific research into questions of conflict and cooperation of importance for international peace and security, in order to contribute to an understanding of the conditions for peaceful solutions of international conflicts and for a stable peace. Through its research SIPRI makes accessible impartial information on weapon developments, military expenditure, arms production and arms transfers, arms control and disarmament, as well as conflicts, conflict prevention and regional security. SIPRI findings are disseminated primarily through books, research reports and other publications of the Institute as well as the Institute's Internet site.
