Sin Chew Jit Poh (Malaysia)

Sin Chew Jit Poh (星洲日報) or Sin Chew Daily, is a major newspaper in Malaysia. Founded in 15 January 1929 by Aw Boon Par and Aw Boon Haw, founder of theTiger Balm(虎標萬金油) in Singapore. In October 1987, three mainstream newspapers, The Star, Sin Chew Jit Poh, and Watan, had their publishing permits suspended for a while because government extreme control in journalism to protect its image from racial issue and financial scandal. In 1988 Tiong Hiew King, a tycoon of Sibu, Sarawak who own Rimbunan Hujau bought the newspaper to resume it for operation. He is accused of trying to duopoly the local Chinese newspapers along with political party MCA
