silver city (comics)

The Silver City is the home of the angels in the DC Universe. Implicitly, it is also the home of God, referred to only as 'The Creator' in the comics. The Silver City first appeared in the Season of Mists storyline in The Sandman, when the angels Duma and Remiel are despatched to the Dreaming to observe the events there following Lucifer's abdication of the throne of Hell. The Silver City is emphatically not the same place as Heaven - it exists 'outside the created order of things' and apparently predates the rest of Creation. Neil Gaiman, the author of Season of Mists, used the concept again in his short story "Murder Mysteries", which is set in the Silver City, and features the angel Raguel's investigation of the first ever murder.
