Signet

A Signet is a seal used to authenticate a document, typically by leaving an impression in sealing wax. A signet-ring is a ring with a seal set into it. Signet is also often used incorrectly to refer to a young swan, the correct term being cygnet, from the Latin cygnus. A SigneT (with a capitalised T) is a class of racing dinghy designed in 1961 by Ian Proctor.
