SighisoaraSighişoara (Hungarian: Segesvr, German: Schburg) is a town in Mureş, Transylvania, Romania. Its population is 32,287 (2002). Founded by German craftsmen and merchants, known as the Transylvanian Saxons, the historic centre of Sighişoara has preserved in an exemplary way the features of a small, fortified, medieval town, which played an important strategic and commercial role at the edges of Central Europe for several centuries. Each year, in July, a Medieval Festival takes place in the old citadel. It has been listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a World Heritage Site. Owing to its connection to the myth of Dracula through the prince Vlad Tepes, who was born here, the construction of a Dracula theme park in Sighişoara is being considered. Sights External links
