Side Effect X

Side Effect X is an Australian rock band. Its members are Chris Rand, Sven Sellin, Shane Partridge, Keith Owen and Michael Caruana. They were formed in Wollongong, New South Wales, 82km south of Sydney. The group was originally a popular Australian heavy metal band called Segression, but a complete change in musical direction and the addition of a new member prompted the name change late in 2003. In 2004, the band's first single Turn the Page and their first filmclip Get Off Me both scored significant airplay on commercial and community broadcasters. Their debut album Life was widely praised for its diverse and upbeat rock sounds. The band was good enough to be a top #8 finalist in a national television live band competition despite having played only a handful of shows. However, the band's members, as Segression, had previously toured with megastars like Ozzy Osbourne, Fear Factory, Pantera and Slipknot and performed at major Australian festivals, including a guest performance with Soulfly at Australia's Big Day Out festival.
