Sian Williams

Sian Williams is a television presenter for the BBC. Of Welsh origin (Llanelli), she spent more than a decade in radio - producing news and current affairs programmes for BBC Radio 4 - and special political programmes, such as the budget and election night programmes. But when she went to work as an editor on the launch for BBC News 24, things changed pretty dramatically. The team were screen testing would-be presenters - one fell ill and Sian was asked if she fancied having a go herself. She did, was offered the 4-7pm slot on BBC News 24 with Gavin Esler. She ended up staying there for more than two years and decided not to go back to producing again. As well as presenting Breakfast (from which she has had a break in 2004), Sian still pops up (the BBC's word, see below) as a newsreader on the Six O'Clock News. She is also a regular presenter on Radio 5 Live and hosts a weekly TV arts show for BBC Wales and has also hosted a number of TV specials and interviews. She lives in North London - not with bees or chickens like Bill Turnbull, her one time side-kick on Breakfast, but two children.
