Shuswap Lake

Shuswap Lake is a lake located in British Columbia, that drains into the North Thompson River, a branch of the Thompson River, a tributory of the Fraser River. It is named after the Shuswap Secwepemc First Nations people, the most northern of the Salishan speaking people. . Shuswap lake consists of four arms, forming a shape similar to the letter H. The four arms are called Salmon Arm (south east), Anstey Arm (north east), Seymour Arm (north west), and the main lake (south west). Several parks are located on the shores of Shuswap Lake, including Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, Shuswap Lake Provincial Marine Park, Silver Beach Provincial Park, Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park (home of the Adams River Sockey Run), and Cinnemousun Narrows Provincial Park (located at the center of the H). Communities bordering the lake include Salmon Arm, Celista, and Sicamous
