Shubert Theatre Many theatres are named the Shubert Theatre; many of these are now or were previously owned by the Shubert Theatre Corporation. During the 1920s and 1930s, the Shubert brothers operated, managed or booked nearly 1,000 houses across the United States. The Shubert Theatre in New York, at 44th Street, was built in 1913. There is also a Schubert Theatre in Chicago, located within the Majestic Building on West Monroe Street between State and Dearborn. In 2005 the theater will carry a corporate moniker. The Shubert Theatre in Boston is known as Boston's "little princess". The 1,600-seater is half of The Wang Center for the Performing Arts, the other half being The Wang Theatre.
