Shirley Q. Liquor

Shirley Q. Liquor is a satirical persona created by Long Beach, Mississippi resident, Registered Nurse and ordained Quaker minister, Chuck Knipp. Knipp, a white man, portrays "Shirley Q." as a happy-go-lucky African American mother of 19 children in shabby drag and blackface. In 2002, protesters picketed a New York City performance, protesting Knipp's blackface performance as racist and misogynist. Knipp concedes that the performance is not politically correct, but claims a wide fanbase. Shirley Q.'s "Daily Ignunce" morning radio show is syndicated nationwide and she has performed with Tracy Morgan, formerly of Saturday Night Live.
