Shimizu S-pulse

Shimizu S-Pulse(清水エスパルス) is a J. League team. The team name S-Pulse is a combination of S taken from Shizuoka, Shimizu, and Soccer and Pulse from English to mean the spirit of all those that support the team. It joined the J. League on 1991 and its home town had been Shimizu, Shizuoka before it merged with surrounding towns to became Shizuoka, Shizuoka. Its home ground is Nihondaira Stadium and uses Miho Ground, Shizuoka City Sports Ground for its practices. It was not based on a company team and gathered its players from those players who were born in Shizuoka perfecture. The team was originally run by the company, S-Lap Communications with the fund from citizens and Shizuoka Television but after Shizuoka Television withdraw in 1998, it was reorganized under local companies under the leadership of the company, Suzuyo. It is now run by S-Pulse, Inc.
