Shekhar KapurShekhar Kapur, born 1945 in British India (now Pakistan) is a filmmaker. His works include the Oscar-nominated Elizabeth (1998), a semi-historical account of the early reign of Elizabeth I of England. Other films directed by Shekhar Kapur: Future projects include Long Walk to Freedom, The Last Full Measure, and Golden Age, a sequel to Elizabeth. Also 20th Century Fox is planning for him to direct two movies of Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. They are slated to be called Foundation and Second Foundation; further details are unknown. In September, 2004, Kapur announced tentative plans to make a major motion picture account of the life of the Buddha. The project would be funded by B. K. Modi, the president of the Maha Bodhi Society, India, and would feature script advice from self-help guru Deepak Chopra.
