Shane Filan

Shane Steven Filan is the lead singer of the Irish boy band Westlife. He grew up in Sligo, a small town in Ireland. He was born on July 5, 1979. He's got two brothers and three sisters. His parents own a diner in Sligo and Shane used to work there as a waiter from a very early age. He was a big fan of Michael Jackson and even learned how to moonwalk. He went to a Catholic school and participated in a school production of Grease when he was about sixteen or seventeen. He loves horses and used to compete at horse tournaments. Filan is one of the six original Westlife members, along with other current members Kian Egan and Mark Feehily. But back then they were known as I.O.U.. Filan has also cowritten a few songs, along with the other band members, including:
  • "Bop Bop Baby"
  • "I Wanna Grow Old With You"
  • "Don't Say It's Too Late"
  • "Love Crime"
Shane married his childhood sweetheart, Gillian Walsh, on Sunday December 28, 2003 at Ballintubber Abbey.
