Sex cord-stromal tumours
are a group of
sex cord
ovarian neoplasms
which accounts for 8% of all reported cases. This group consists of the
neoplastic
proliferations of
granulosa
(
granulosa cell tumours
),
theca
(
thecomas
),
Sertoli
, and
Leydig
cells (
Sertoli-Leydig cell tumours
), as well as
fibroblasts
(
fibroma
). These tumours tend to be
functioning
and, by producing
estrogens
or
androgens
, may have dramatic clinical presentations. Almost all are unilateral.
