Severn Tunnel Junction
is a small
railway station
on the western side of the
Severn Tunnel
at
Rogiet
(which was the station's name before the tunnel was built) in
Monmouthshire
,
Wales
. It lies on the line joining
London
to
Cardiff
and
Swansea
, originally called the
Great Western Railway
South Wales Line. The junction is with the earlier line from
Birmingham
and London by way of
Gloucester
and
Chepstow
. The next station to the west is
Newport (South Wales)
. The next stations to the east are at
Pilning
in
Gloucestershire
(through the tunnel) and nearby
Caldicot
(on the Gloucester line).
