Seven Seas Of RhyeSeven Seas of Rhye is a song performed by British rock group Queen and written by Freddie Mercury. It is the last track on the album Queen II released in 1974, but an unfinished version was the last track on their debut album, Queen. It was released as a single, and after the band performed it on Top of the Pops it became their first hit, peaking at number 10 on the British charts. Freddie Mercury was a Zoroastrian, and the 'Seven Seas of Rhye' could therefore be a Zoroastrian reference from Chapter 11 of the book of "The Bundahishn" (The Creation): On the day when Tishtar produced the rain, when its seas arose therefrom, the whole place, half taken up by water, was converted into seven portions; this portion, as much as one-half, is the middle, and six portions are around; those six portions are together as much as Khvaniras http://www.avesta.org/pahlavi/bund7.html However, some people think the title refers instead to the seven good years from in the Bible.
