Sergi Bruguera

Sergi Bruguera is a retired professional tennis player from Barcelona, Spain. He was born on January 16, 1971. He has a total of 14 ATP singles titles, including two French Open titles in 1993 and 1994 on the red clay courts of Roland Garros. In winning his first French Open title in 1993, he defeated American Jim Courier, who had won the French open titles in 1991 and 1992 in a gruelling five set match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. It was also the first time he had ever played in a Grand Slam Final. In addition to his two French Open titles, he was a finalist in 1995 and 1997. His clay-court reputation was tarnished by his stunning straight set loss to Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten, who is now a three time French Open Champion. Bruguera was also a Silver Medalist at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. The best years of his career were from 1991 to 1994, when he won at least three titles each year. He won his last ATP tour title in 1994 in Prague. Brugera is currently the director of Bruguera Tennis Academy Top Team.
