Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park is a large national park in Tanzania, Africa. It is famous for its annual migration of millions of blue (or brindled) wildebeest, or gnu. The "big five" animals of the park, so named by hunters on safari decades ago, are lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceroses, and Cape buffalo. The park is also home to hyenas, cheetah, zebras, raptors, and many other species. Close to the park lies Olduvai Gorge, where many of the oldest hominid fossils and artifacts have been found. It is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which is part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem. Serengeti National Park has been listed by the UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites.
