Selective Noradrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor

Selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (NARIs) are a class of medication that inhibits the reuptake of the neurotransmitter noradrenaline in the brain. NARIs are widely used in the treatment of ADHD, but they are far less used than either SSRIs or SNRIs in the treatment of clinical depression. As of 2004, there are no approved NARIs available in the US. However, outside the North American market, another NARI reboxetine mesilate (marketed by Pharmacia & Upjohn) has been shown to be effective against depression and panic disorder.
