Second ChanceSecond Chance was an ABC game show that aired from March 7 to July 15, 1977. It is considered to be the predecessor to the CBS game show Press Your Luck. Gameplay was relatively the same as Press Your Luck, two question rounds and two game play rounds. In the question round, host Jim Peck would read a question and give contestants a chance to write down an answer on a board. The contestants would put the boards in front of their podiums. Peck would then give a hint as to how many of them were right or wrong (example: "At least two of you are wrong"), then give three "second chance" answers. Each player could stay where they were if they believed their answer was correct, or can take a "Second Chance" and change their answer. A correct answer on the first try earned them three spins, while a correct "Second Chance" answer earned them one spin. Next came the board round. The spins that the contestants earned were taken to the big board, which consisted of 18 spaces, with cash, prizes, and the infamous "Devils". In a spin, a light would move around the board, and the contestant would stop the light by hitting a buzzer. If a player landed on a cash amount, then it was added to their total. If a player landed on a box, a prize will show up, and the host will describe it. The value of the prize was added to the player's running total. Finally, if the player landed on the "devil", then the player lost all money and prizes up to that point. Any player that got four devils in the same game was eliminated. After all players took their spins, another question round would resume, and then the final board round. This show only lasted four months before it was cancelled.
