Sean MaherSean Maher (born April 16, 1975 in Pleasantville, New York) is an American actor, best known for his role as Dr. Simon Tam in the short-lived science fiction television series Firefly. Graduating from Byram Hills High School, Maher trained at NYU where he earned his drama degree in 1997. He acted on stage in several productions, including Yerma and Into the Woods. Maher has also appeared in the television series Party of Five and . Maher will reprise his role from Firefly in the film Serenity (2005). Maher was also cast as the chief resident of a hospital in the new series Halley's Comet. Trivia - Maher was notorious on the Firefly set for calling his onstage sister Summer Glau by her real name, "Summer", rather than her character's name, "River".
