Schizophrenic (Album)

Schizophrenic was released on February 24, 2004 and is the first solo album for JC Chasez, member of the music group *NSYNC. After a year off from *NSYNC, JC got together with friend and producer Rob Boldt and wrote the song "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)" for the Drumline movie soundtrack. This gave JC a feel for what a music career was like outside of *NSYNC for the first time in 8 years. Finally coming to the decision to do a solo release, he was a bit hesitant and not sure where he wanted this album to go or to sound like. JC wanted to do the music that he wanted to do, so he told his label, Jive Records to leave him alone for a few months and just see what happened in the studio. What came out was an collection of 15 unique sounding songs, all co-written and co-produced by JC himself, working with producers such as Robb Boldt, Basement Jaxx and Rip Rock and Alex G. Although the album has not achieved the commercial success of band mate Justin Timberlake's solo album, Justified, Schizophrenic has received positive reviews and much critical acclaim. Chasez had the intention to produce a record different in style from that commonly associated with NSYNC; the result is demonstrated by songs like "Some Girls (Dance with Women)" and "All Day Long I Dream About Sex". The music is a mixture of dance/electronica beats, live strings and traditional rock and roll, with an 1980s throwback vibe to it. *NSYNC is still a group and claims to want to start throwing song ideas around in the summer of 2004 and get back into the studio in time for an album release date in early 2005, if the right collection of music comes together.
