Scarborough Southwest

Scarborough Southwest is a Canadian electoral district covering the southwestern part of the Scarborough part of Toronto. It stretches from Lake Ontario in the south to Eglinton Avenue in the north. The riding was created in 1996 from parts of Scarborough Centre and Scarborough West. It has always been represented federally by Liberal Tom Wappel. Provincially the riding was represented by Progressive Conservative Dan Newman from 1999 to 2003. In the 2003 Ontario election he was defeated by Liberal Lorenzo Berardinetti, who continues to hold the seat. On Toronto City Council the southeast portion is represented by Brian Ashton and the northwest section by Gerry Altobello.
