Sax By Popular Demand is a youth band from Davis, CA. This group of about 15 musicians is directed by saxophonist Celia Cottle. The band focuses on playing traditional jazz, swing and latin jazz from the perspective of the saxaphone. This group has played at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee for the last 5 years and is slated to return in the future. This group changes each year as veteran group leaders graduate or leave and a new generation comes through. The 2004/2005 edition of the band is a 15 person group that consists of four tenor saxes, two baritone saxes, 4 alto saxophones, two soprano saxes, one pianist, one bassist, and one drummer. The group regularly plays at senior citizen centers, retirement homes, and public and school events througout the Sacramento Valley.
