SavantA savant (suh-VAHNT) is a learned person, well versed in literature or science, often with an exceptional skill in a specialized field of learning. The term is also sometimes used to describe an autistic savant, formerly termed an idiot savant. The word comes from the French word savant savɑ̃, meaning scientist (literally, knowing).
