Satoru Iwata

Satoru Iwata is the current President of Nintendo Company Limited.

Early Life

Iwata was born in 1959 in the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan. At a young age he developed an interest in technology.

Education

Iwata is a graduate of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. His major was computer science.

Employment History

HAL Laborotory

After college, Iwata took a position at HAL Laboratory, Inc., a subsidiary of Nintendo. Iwata became the company's coordinator of software production in 1983. Some of the games he helped create while he was at HAL were Balloon Fight, EarthBound, and the Kirby series. Iwata was promoted to president of HAL in 1993.

Nintendo

In 2000, Iwata took a position at Nintendo Company Limited as the head of its corporate planning division. In 2002, when Hiroshi Yamauchi retired, Iwata became the company's president. Iwata, Satoru Iwata, Satoru
