Satellite Tournaments

Satellite tournaments are tournaments organised by the ITF (International Tennis Federation). They are played worldwide by players who have enough National tour points to progress, or a sufficiently high rating to enter the qualifiers.

The tournament prize money can range from 1000- 15000 for winning the tournament. If a player wins enough matches on this tour they will receive enough ranking points to start playing on the Challenger Tour. Prize money on the Challenger Tour ranges from 15000-50000. Again, if a participant beats enough opponents they will gain enough points to get onto the main ATP/WTA tour. This is the tour that the top professionals play in; it includes the master series and the main Grand Slams: Wimbledon, U. S. Open, Australian Open and Roland Garros.
