Sara McmannSara McMann (born September 24, 1980 in Tacoma Park, Maryland) is the first American women in history to receive a silver medal in woman's wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics games in Athens, Greece. She wrestled in the Women's Freestyle 63 Kg or 138.75 lb weight class. Like many female wrestler's, McMann has problems convincing her parents to allow her to join the wrestling team. Her mother finally signed the papers for her to join the team, after the football coach from her school made a sexist comment about how girls should not wrestle. Since then she has wrestled every oppertunity that she has gotten. Education She attended High School McDowell High School where in addition to wrestling, she participated in theatre. For college, she first went to Lock Haven University. There she was a member of the school's wrestling team under the coaching of Carl Poff While there, she earned a degree in Theatre.
