Sannicolau MareSnnicolau Mare (Hungarian: Nagyszentmikls, German: Grosanktnikolaus) is the westernmost town in Romania. It has a population of 13,000. It became part of Romania in 1919. It is known for 23 gold objects discovered in 1799. They are currently on display in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. It is also the birthplace of Bela Bartok.
