Sanjay Gandhi

Sanjay Gandhi (December 14, 1946 - June 23, 1980) was an Indian politician. Sanjay was the younger son of Feroze Gandhi and his wife Indira Gandhi, and was generally regarded as his mother's likely successor as leader of India. As leader of the "Youth Congress", he was allegedly responsible for human rights abuses during the emergency. He died in a plane crash, in June 1980. He married Maneka Gandhi and has a son Varun Gandhi. Both Maneka and Varun are now members of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party.
