Sandra MagnusSandra Hall Magnus (born 30 October 1964) is an American astronaut and veteran of a single space mission. Magnus was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois and earned degrees in physics and electrical engineering from the University of Missouri - Rolla before earning a doctorate in materials science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1996. During the 1980s, she worked on stealth aircraft design as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas.
