San Isidro, Nueva Ecija

San Isidro is a municipality in the province of Nueva Ecija in the Philippines. The town is between Gapan City and Cabiao. One of the most popular barrios is CALABA which is famous because of its fiesta celebration in honor of Sta. Rosario. Each of the nine puroks creates it own colorful float that touches on some current political, cultural, economic and educational issues. This is the time when both the old and young members of the community work together and create their own version of "obra maestra" known as "karosa". It is the competitive athmosphere that motivates them to do their best. To understand better what a Calaba Barrio Fiesta means it is suggested that you see it for yourself. Fiesta celebration is usually held on the third Saturday and Sunday of May. The artful preparation of festive floats and buntings serves as a common bond among the different segments of the community. This activity channels the energy of the youth to something creative and positive and at the same time demonstrates the presence of the bayanihan spirit that is inherent amongst the Filipinos.
