Sampson Class Destroyer

The Sampson-class destroyers served in the United States Navy during World War I. Commissioned in 1916 and 1917, the class was a slight deviation on the O'Brien-class and Tucker-class. They had 12 of the 21-inch torpedo tubes. Most of the ships served in the United States Coast Guard in the Rum Patrol. Allen survived into the 1940s and served through World War II.
