Salem Mall

Salem Mall is located in Trotwood ( Dayton), Ohio. The first mall in the metropolitan Dayton area. It was opened in 1969 and was the anchor of major retail business in northwest Montgomery County. The mall became one of the first to be declared a "dead mall" since its anchor stores Elder-Beerman, J.C. Penney, Lazurus closed their doors in a period from 1994 to present time. Only Sears and Home Depot reside at the present mall location and there is only four locally-owned small businesses inside the mall as of 2004. The mall is slated for demolition and revitalization. In 2005, city leaders annouced that the mall will be redesigned to look like the newer upscale malls such as the Easton Commons in Columbus, Ohio.
