Salah Ad Din

Salah ad Din or Salh-ad-Dn is a province in Iraq. The province has an area of 24,751 km. The estimated population for 2003 was 1,146,500 people. The provincial capital is Tikrit; the province also contains the significantly larger city of Samarra. The province is named after Saladin (written Salah ah Din in modern Arabic Latin transcription), hero of the 12th century.
